Earlier this year, Apple introduced the brand new Apple Studio Display as an alternative to Apple’s Pro Display XDR.
Even thought it’s the same display as the 5K 27″ iMac and the LG Ultrafine 5K Display, the Studio Display is more Apple-ish.
It features a 12MP webcam straight out from the Apple’s New iPad Air with the Center Stage Support. Though complains are flooding in already which report the poor quality despite it’s excellent sensor.
Apple did notice the complaint and issued a statement telling users that a software update is on it’s way. Imagine a software update just for your monitor 😀 Anyways, we’re hoping Apple pushes this Software update fast because it’s even worst than the 720p webcam of the older Macbook Air, its significantly more hazy and noisy as compared to those.
but the display is very powerful tho. Apple put the same A13 Bionic SOC found in the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro in the display which helps with its image processing for the webcam ( we all know how that went lol. )
A13 Bionic chip also helps the display to fluently pair with Macbooks and iMacs. and also helps drive its speakers to support Spatial Audio and Dolby Atmos. Reviews for these speakers are good so far.
with these powerful internals, Apple Studio Display must be best in this price range right? well it’s complicated. LG’s Ultrafine 5K monitor has the same display quality but costs 300$ less. so save your 300$ if you can and if you want to spend for the more premium external, go with the Studio Display because it’s external is phenomenal.
I would recommend that you get the LG as its cheaper and pretty much same as Apple’s.
